Chapter 1: Paleolithic migrations; Population of the planet

The Paleolithic societies are different among each other yet interconnected together. Since there was an ice age, the climate has gotten significantly colder in Eurasia, forcing the European people to move southward to warmer climates. This amazes me how the people can quickly adjust to different environmental changes around them by altering hunting habits and new technology such as spear throwers and weaving; Nowadays, there are some people that comfortable in their living niche. For example, if a man has been living in California his entire life, it would be a risk moving to a state on the east coast, since the weather conditions are completely different, such as having snow and below 0 degrees. As for Australia, the population in 1788 was about 300,000 yikes! I have never heard of Dreamtime before as it means the beginning of things. This reflected networks of migration, communication, and linking people. I found the Pacific migration fascinating as it was referred to the waterborne migration. It's incredible how the migration of the Austronesian-Speaking people travelled from Micronesia to Polynesia such as Madagascar, Philippines , Hawaii, New Zealand, and Easter Island. The first human societies were small consisting of 25-50 people. There was no hierarchy pyramid between social classes!! The women were primary food gatherers that provided the income, ad the men were the hunters. I've noticed that back then there was not as much bias towards women and their roles in society. Usually, the women are known as the housekeepers who stay home and take care of their children, while the men go off to work. Men and Women were treated equally.
